Although born in London, I spent my childhood in this paradise island with it’s diverse culture and heritage during a period of civil unrest.
Asilin, our third generation family cook who’s kitchen I spent my time after school is where I first fell in love. Together we would use fresh ingredients from my grandfather’s carefully nurtured Ayurvedic garden to prepare every meal.
The handed down recipes have their own special preparation methods and flavors. An ordinary Sinhalese curry can contain upto thirteen herbs and spices. Almost every dish is flavored with virgin coconut, heightening the taste and drawing upon the healing properties in true Ayurvedic style.
Now based in Berlin, I return to Sri Lanka regularly diving deeper into this authentic cuisine. Continuously being inspired on every visit, I wish to share with you a homestyle feast every bite of the way!”
